Regina Marie Somogyi, age 46, of La Vernia, went to be with our Savior on 18 Oct 21, as a result of a traumatic brain injury from a vehicle accident on Loop 1604. Regina fought like a roaring Lion for many days, but was ultimately lifted to Heaven in our Lord’s hands, while surrounded by her loving family. Regina will forever be remembered for her outgoing personality; her perfect, brilliant smile that would light up any room; her caring, loving, adventurous spirit; her willingness to give; her love of family; her uncanny ability to decorate for any event or season; her undeniably infectious laugh; and for her absolute adoration of the 1980s. Born on December 7, 1974, in Toledo, OH, Regina Marie Dimitroff was the daughter of Pamella and William Dimitroff. She was a graduate of Theodore Roosevelt High School and of the University of Texas – San Antonio.
A 1st grade Teacher and reading specialist for most of her professional career, Regina also had a passion for fitness. Regina taught thousands of fitness classes over her lifetime, both in the United States and abroad, and she positively impacted and saved countless lives through her devotion to achieving and maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle. Not only would Regina teach others how to maintain a healthy lifestyle, she also taught the same lessons to her husband and daughters at home. The family would often get up early in the morning, and work out together before heading off to school and work. Little moments like these will be missed forever.
There is no doubt, Regina’s proudest moments were the marriage to her soulmate, Jonathan Somogyi, and the birth of their two daughters, Juliana and Jenavieve. Regina truly had a giving spirit the size of Texas. She would routinely enlist the help of her “Somogyi Team” to construct gifts for those in need and to make heartwarming trinkets for her various fitness class members…often buying close-out seasonal items and storing them for just the right time to make someone feel special. Additionally, and never one to shy away from adventure, Regina loved traveling the county and the world with Jonathan, Juliana, and Jenavieve, often searching for the nicest RV parks, most beautiful hiking trails, best water adventure rides, fastest roller coasters, longest ziplines, or the most extreme wakeboard parks. Regina lived life to the fullest, enjoyed spending time with loved ones, and adored watching her children grow into strong, caring, independent young women. Regina positively-impacted everyone and everything around her, and this world is already worse-off without her. There are no words to describe the immense emptiness caused by the loss of such an outstanding human being. Regina is survived by her husband, Jonathan Somogyi, daughters, Juliana Somogyi (16) and Jenavieve Somogyi (11), mother, Pamella Dimitroff, mother-in-law Robin Somogyi, sister, Amanda Dimitroff, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A memorial service to celebrate Regina’s life will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, 29 Oct 2021, at Colonial Funeral Home: 625 Kitty Hawk Rd, Universal City, Texas. Visitation hours will be 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM. A memorial has been established in Regina’s name for Traumatic Brain Injury Research.
