Renate Thomas

It is with heavy hearts that we announce Renate Thomas, age 82, of Universal City, Texas passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024. Renate was born in Karlsruh, Brandenburg, Germany on April 24,1941. She is survived by her daughters Denice Brewer, Jessica Thomas, granddaughter Jasmine Brewer, grandson Jovon Brewer, and her sister Klara Henson. She was preceded in death by her son Mahlan Thomas and husband Norris Thomas. She enjoyed a long and full life. Growing up in Germany, she pursued a career in pediatric nursing. She met Norris, they were married in 1963 and soon after moved to the United States. After several military moves around the country, they retired and settled in San Antonio to raise their children. They spent 40 years together before his passing in 2003. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family. Her grandchildren brought her enormous fulfillment and happiness. Outside of her family she enjoyed growing flowers and gardening in her backyard.

A visitation for Renate will be held Monday, April 1, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX 78148. A prayer service will occur Monday, April 1, 2024 from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX 78148. A committal service will occur Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 2:30 PM to 2:50 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
