

Richard is survived by his children, Carol Allen and her two sons, Robert Whetstone (Balinda) and 3 daughters and 3 sons, Deborah Jones (Mark) and three sons, Richard Duarte and son and daughter, Teresa Bible (James) and two daughters, Candy Morris and son and daughter. He also had 17 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, James Duarte and sister, Mary Barrios.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Susan W Duarte, his mother Maria and father Frank Duarte.
Richard proudly served his country in the US Air Force for 26 years. After retiring from the military, he embarked on a career at Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union, where he worked for 25 years.
Richard had a great passion for Fast Pitch Softball where he helped win multiple championships. His loved the sport of Bowling which allowed him to travel to tournaments across the country. He achieved a 300 perfect game score twice in his career and loved to share his knowledge of the game.
Richard will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. His memory will be cherished, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
The funeral arrangements are being handled by Colonial Funeral Home in Universal City, Texas. Viewing for Richard will be held from 11:00-11:30am Monday, December 18, 2023, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, Tx 78148. Visitation from 11:30-12:00, Service from 12:00-12:20pm. Graveside service 1:00pm with full military honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, Tx 78209.
