

Robert Lee Meade, age 70 passed away September 5, 2010. He was born March 21, 1940 in Washington D.C. to James J. and Allie L. (Duckett) Meade. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army serving from 1957 until 1966 with two tours in Vietnam. He was a member of the All Army Military Basketball Team. Mr. Meade was a Ham Radio Operator, a member of the Hill Country Amateur Radio Club, lifelong member of the Antique Car Club, enjoyed restoring antique cars and was an avid Redskins fan. He loved horses and San Antonio, where he has lived since 1971. He has an Associate in Applied Science and an Associate in Architectural Design. Mr. Meade was an active member of the Universal City First Baptist Church for more than 17 years. He is preceded in death by his brothers, William “Bill” Meade and Charles “Ronnie” Meade. Survivors include his loving wife, Sandra L. Meade; daughters, Robin Copeland (Tom) of Gainesville, VA, Cheryl Killingsworth (Shannon) of Las Cruces, NM, Deborah Nelson (Chuck) of Fredericksburg, VA, Bridgett Loafman (Don) of Middleburg, FL; 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. A visitation will be held Thursday, September 9, 2010 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. and funeral services will be Friday, September 10, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at Colonial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Audie Murphy Veterans Hospital in San Antonio, TX. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
