Ronald A. Williams, born on July 14, 1939 was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at the age of 74 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Newton and Ellen Williams; siblings Newt “Bud” Williams and Mary Smith; and son-in-law Franklin Beaver. Ron will be greatly missed by his wife of 13 years, Marta Rodriguez Williams; daughter, Leann Beaver; daughter, Misty Rangel and husband Willie; and son, Shane Williams; grandchildren Amber Hernandez, Jackie Mullen, Josh Mullen, Horizon Martinez, Stormye Rangel and Tres Rangel; brother, Lewis “Chuck” Williams and wife Sharon; sister, Lynn Akin; sister-in-law Ann Williams; and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
Ron loved life….he was vibrant and full of energy. He never met a stranger and opened his home to anyone with a warm smile. His infectious laugh would cause the whole room to explode in giggles. He was a jokester, and had one of the most wonderful personalities you would ever have the pleasure of knowing. Ron had a passion for dancing and would spend every Friday night learning and teaching dance moves like the Cha-cha or the Swing at Incarnate Word. He was a master at the Waltz and could whiz anyone around the dance floor. The annual 50’s dances were epic with his hair slicked back and dyed black, rolled up jeans and white t-shirt while he spun his wife around in her pink poodle skirt and bobby socks. He loved going to work each day and enjoyed what he did, upholstery repair. He used to say, “I ain’t ever worked a day in my life…I love it!”, because to him it wasn’t work…it was fun every day. He loved his clients and would plan his visits accordingly to make sure he got to see each of them every week. He would come home at the end of each day and tell his family who he visited with and what he did that day. And although his family never met his clients, they knew them through his many stories. But most of all, the love he had for his friends and family exuded from his very being. His eyes would light up when he spoke of his beautiful bride or how proud he was of his children. He had such a passion for life….and each of us should learn from him and remember that “he’s the funny looking one he was telling us about”!
A Visitation will be at 11:00 AM at Colonial Funeral Home on Saturday, December 14, 2013, with a reception following the visitation for family members.
