

Charles Howard Lott died January 1st in Live Oak, Texas, at the age of 84. Howard’s life was devoted to love of family and service to his country. He was the only child of Vera Murphy Lott Varnum and John Lott of Elmore County, AL. Howard graduated from Tallassee High School, Tallassee, AL, and worked in Auburn for a short while before enlisting in the USAF. He married Lillian McAlister and celebrated 62 years of marriage in December 2014. They reared six daughters while living on the many Air Force bases to which Howard was assigned. They particularly enjoyed the six years spent at Hickam AFB in Hawaii. After his retirement from the AF, Howard attended St. Philips College in San Antonio and earned an AA in Business Administration. He went on to a civil service career before really retiring to spend more time with family. Howard enjoyed lawn work, reading Westerns, and puttering around in his workshop. One of his favorite pastimes was watching the Dallas Cowboys and the SA Spurs play.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lillian M. Lott; daughters, Faye Swindle (Jay), Gail Douglas, Jo Lott, Jean Werner (Marty), Jaye Patton (Pat), and Jennifer Lott-Gonzales (David); grandchildren, Chris Clouthier, Zack Douglas, Emily Whigham (Bret), Jacob Patton, Ryan Patton (Natalie), Jared Werner (Katie), MIDN Gavyn Gonzales, Gage Gonzales, and Maggie Gonzales; and great-grandchildren, Ginger Whigham, David Swindle, Alexia Patton, and Jude Werner. He will be dearly missed by all.
Services will be held Monday, January 12th at 11:30 a.m. at the Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX 78148. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Schertz Library Foundation, P.O. Box 114 , Schertz, TX 78154.
