

Lt.Col. Retd. Stanley Edward Orner passed away May 1, 2016 at 93 years old. Born March 6, 1923 in Sioux City, Iowa. After graduating from high school he attended college to become an engineer. When World War II broke out he enlisted in the Army Air Corp. He received his pilot wings at Altus AFB, Oklahoma on August 4, 1944 and married the love of his life Barbara in Tulsa, Oklahoma on August 5, 1944. He also served in the Korean War and Vietnam. He and his wife Barbara opened Carl's Furniture in 1961 and closed it in 1984. They retired to Woodlake to play golf, bridge and enjoy traveling. Stan served as President of the Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club, and the Furniture Association. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Barbara Orner. He leaves behind his daughter Diane Snyder & husband Dan, daughter Susan Stewart, granddaughters Carol Meyer & husband Doug, Gail Hubbard & husband Brian, Debbie Summers & husband John, grandsons Mike Roundy, John Roundy, and James Roundy, 12 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 24, 2016 at 10:00 am in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment with military honors will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:45pm.
