

Troy Thomas (T.T.) Sheffield, U.S. Army Retired, passed away on Friday, November 9, 2012 at the age of 83. He was born October 2, 1929 in Grady County Georgia to Charlie Thomas and Nevada Bentley Sheffield. He was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Geraldine Whigham Sheffield; daughters, Debra L. Morrison, her husband Geoffrey; Stephanie R. Iden, her husband Scott; grandchildren, Scott G. Morrison, Mitchell S. Iden, and Addison J. Iden; sisters, Wanetah Mixon, her husband John, and Peggy Waylor; and nephews Kin Mixon and Kit Mixon. Troy spent 22 years in the Army as a Veterinary Food Inspector and Animal Technician, serving initially in the Korean Conflict. He also worked for the U.S. Postal Service, from which he retired after 19 years of service. Troy was a member of First Baptist Church, Universal City, and was previously involved in the Gideons, the Association of Retired Enlisted Veterinary Personnel, the Garden Ridge Bracken Lions’ Club, Garden Ridge Bracken Volunteer Fire Department, Army Lodge 1105 AF & AM, Alzafar Shrine, and Supreme Council of Scottish Rite. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and traveling, and will always be remembered not only for extending a very strong handshake, but for service to others. A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 18, 2012, from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Colonial Funeral Home in Universal City. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at First Baptist Church in Universal City, followed by Interment at 12:30 P.M. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Troy T. Sheffield may be made to VITAS Hospice (San Antonio), the Enduring Love Foundation of First Baptist Church in Universal City, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
