Vassar E. Mattox went to be with the Lord on March 10, 2014 at the age of 92. She was born on July 10, 1921 in Atlanta, GA to Frederick and Vassar (Gilbert) Edwards. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman Wesley Mattox, Sr.; 2 brothers; and 1 sister; survived by her children, Dianne Tabb, Nancy Gray and Herman Wesley (Butch) Mattox, Jr and Wife, Paula; 7 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Vassar was a member of the First Baptist Church in Universal City and a Prayer Warrior for the First Baptist Academy. A graveside service will be held Saturday, March15, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Southside Cemetery in Troy, NC.
