Virginia Lee Jasso Benson

Virginia Lee Benson, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. John Jasso was born November 9, 1924 in Kansas City, Kansas and called by our heavenly father on May 2, 2012. She met the love of her life, Lewis Benson, and they were married for 54 years before cancer took him from us in 2000. She is also preceded in death by her grandson, John Krettek, III of St. Louis. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Krettek of St. Louis, Linda Lee Benson of Garden Ridge, and Diane Collinsworth and husband Klaus (whom she loved as if he were her own son) of Hollywood Park, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Danielle Krettek of St. Louis, Katherine Collinsworth, Alexandria Villanueva, and Leandra Collinsworth all of San Antonio. Her great grandchildren, Alexis and Tre’ Miller, and Nichole Villanueva all of San Antonio. She is also survived by many friends and neighbors that have loved her for many years, especially Diane Emerling. Although mom’s career was in clerical, her most important work was being a wife and mother. Later in life she found her true passion of painting. From Renoir, to Jesus and Mary, to portraits of her grandkids, gave her such pleasure. Thank you mom for teaching us how to love.

Bless mom’s doctors who helped her over the years, especially Dr. Wellford (who made his first house call to see mom), the best Cardiologist-the one with a heart. And to Dr. Redmond for all your time and care for mom, we couldn’t have done it without you. Bless the Vitas team that cared for mom, your dedication and love are truly wonderful and awesome. Thank you God for all you do and for the little gifts that you gave us with mom’s frequent words of love and memories. We love you mom….You are once again with your “Sweet Lew”. Go in peace, Mom! Visitation will be Tuesday, May 8, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. with a Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. at Colonial Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 12:30 P.M. at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Converse. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
