Condolences from your Michigan family.  Uncle Bill was a kind and gentle man who loved everyone.  His sister Irene Cornett Stehouwer and the rest of us miss his warm smile and friendly laughter. I first met Bill through my girlfriend Kim (now my wife of 31 years) in the mid 1970's. At first glance Uncle Bill looked intimidating to a 20 year old who was dating his niece. But as I got to know him I realized he was a big ol' teddy bear at heart. Uncle Bill loved his family, friends and neighbors with as much love as a man can give. Bill and Betty visited us in Iowa several times over the years and Kim and I visited them in San Antonio a couple of times. When it came time for me to say goodbye to Bill I'd shake his hand and I'd always get a little choked up. He was such a sincere, genuine person. He was a role model without trying to be one. He never had a bad word about anyone. He loved his wife and kids immensely and his friends were all near and dear to him. Rest in peace Uncle Bill. No one can replace you. You will be missed.

Very sorry to hear of Mr. Cornett's passing. I have so many great memories from our swimming days with HOT and AHAC and of course our trip to Iowa! I will always remember what a kind, loving person he was. Beth, your Mom & family will definitely be in my thoughts and prayers. Rest in Peace Mr. Cornett.

So so sorry to hear about your family's loss Beth. Your dad was larger than life and such a gentle soul. I will never forget when we all slept on a tent on the beach - many sweet memories of a sweet man. Hope you all are doing well.

I truly and deeply miss Uncle Bill. The time I lived with Uncle Bill and Aunt Betty was the absolute best time of my childhood. I felt so secure and happy there and Greg & Beth accepted me as a sister (including the arguments) but mostly as family. I was so proud to go on base to the Officers Club for dinner getting a solute at the gate honoring my Uncle. I love you with all my heart...your button nose (yea still remember that name). Love Ya

Bill will be greatly missed.  He lived a full life filled with friends and family.  After knowing him for over 25 years I feel he was truly blessed.  I'm sure he is in a better place.

We have such fond memories of Bill and Betty as our next door neighbors in Live Oak.  We were married only 3 years when we bought our first house next door to them.  Bill and Betty were like second parents to us.  We didn't know anything about owning a house, but Bill knew and shared and helped us with everything.  He even lifted a car off of Aubry one time when the jack fell.  We're so sad to hear of Bill's passing, but lift the Cornett family up in prayer as they grieve their loss.

God's blessings to all of Uncle Bill's family.  Uncle Bill was more of father figure for me that took the place of my own distant father when I was growing up.  I will always remember the laughs, the jokes and the later on...long talks that we would have.  He was so much the person I needed growing up, and the shoulder I leaned on when I got older.  I will miss him dearly...  but I will smile as I remember the memories and I will also smile to know that he is now the angel in heaven watching over all of us.  Prayers to all of the family.

I will always remember Uncle Bill as the stand in father that I needed when I was growing up, and even up to just recently.  I miss him terribly already, but can only smile as I remember the wonderful times with him.  He is that shoulder I needed down here, and now he is the angel up in heaven that I will have for the remainder of my life.  God's blessings!

I will always remember my Uncle Bill as being a sweet and loving person who was full of life and humor. He adored Beth and Greg and was always so proud of their accomplishments.  He was the protective husband and always took care of my sweet Aunt Betty.  I'll never forget the summer I spent living in Texas with them. I loved being part of their family!  We had fun times at the pool, going to the dunes,  swimming at the beach among many other fun times. He was the best uncle!  I will truly miss him! May God protect his family and give them peace.

I met Bill in July 1975 when I transferred to Randolph AFB. We worked in ATC Manpower.  I retired in 1979, but would have occasional contact with Bill and his family.  I believe his son, Greg, and my daughter, Kim, might have been in the same class at Judson High.  Bill left too many memories to list here, but I always enjoyed his sense of humor.  May God bring comfort to his family and friends.
