William Roger Clouse

William (Will / Willie) R. Clouse, 63, of Schertz, Texas, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2024. Will was born in Owensboro, Kentucky, on October 22, 1961, to Joseph W. Clouse and Dorothy (Clark) Clouse. He lived life to the fullest, cherishing each day, living his Catholic faith and love of God. People who met him felt the Holy Spirit around him. He would introduce himself as “Will, like the will of God.”

Will was a 30-year veteran of the Navy, rising to the rank of Command Master Chief Petty Officer, serving as the Command Master Chief for the Chief of Naval Operations. During the last 12 years of his 30-year career, he led enlisted sailors, advising them on training, promotions, and quality of life. His assignments included serving on the USS Orion, USS Deyo, USS Simon Lake, and USS LaSalle.

As an athlete, Will competed in cycling races with semi-professional cyclists in Italy. As a mechanic, he spent his free time repairing and building bikes.

Will was a man of many talents. He spoke fluent Italian, designed and built outdoor furniture, and screened in the back porch. Building prayer kneelers was his most recent hobby. To ensure the family’s maximum enjoyment of camping, he took pride in upgrading the family RV.

Will lived his faith and exemplified what it meant to be Catholic. He was extremely active in the Knights of Columbus and at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. In 2009, he was initiated into the Knights of Columbus and served as Chancellor of Council #9407 from 2010 to 2011. He became a Fourth Degree Knight in 2010, served as Deputy Grand Knight of Council #6358 from July 2023 to June 2024, and for two years, as Outer Sentinel of the Mother Teresa Assembly #2523. Additionally, he was President of the Columbus Club from July 2023 to June 2024. He often served food at the Friday fish fry events. He was an usher, led the baptismal ministry, and assisted in leading the monthly Fatima Rosary at Good Shepherd Catholic Church.

Will’s love for motorcycles and support of the pro-life movement drew him to the Texas Knights on Bikes. He joined in August 2021 and was appointed State Advocate in May 2022. Advocating for the Right to Life movement, he participated in 25 Silver Rose ceremonies to include the Silver Rose International Crossing in Laredo, TX, and the March for Life in Austin, TX.

Will was a loving and devoted husband and father. He cherished each day with his wife. He especially beamed when he talked about his daughter.

Will is survived by his beloved wife of 12 years, Donna (Nicosia) Clouse, and his daughter, Sophia Clouse. He also is survived by his siblings Mildred Jessup (Jerry), Grace Owen, Monica Agee, Victor Clouse (Susan), and Diana Martin (Frank), a great aunt Juanita Clark, uncles Edward Clark and Tony (Jeannie) Clark, along with numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins who shared a mutual love.

Will is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Clouse, mother Dorothy (Clark) Tillberg, sister, Jean Marie (Clouse) Smith, and several Clouse and Clark aunts and uncles. William Roger Clouse will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched by his remarkable presence.

Will’s farewell visitation will be January 21, 2025, at the Colonial Funeral Home in Universal City, TX, from 5:00-8:00 pm. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Monica Catholic Church in Converse, TX, on January 22, 2025, at 9:30 am., followed by interment with full military honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the many friends for their countless prayers and support for Will, the physicians and staff at Brooke Army Medical Center, Headquarters Installation Management Command, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School, Hope Hospice, Visiting Angels, and Kirkwood Manor Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. The family is grateful for the priests and parishioners of Good Shepherd Catholic Church and St. Monica Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the Knights on Bikes. A special thank you goes to Fr. Thumma Prathap for his pastoral support and Fr. Alejandro Ortega for his friendship and spiritual support.
