William Gregory Taylor

Captain William Gregory Taylor, born May 19, 1948 in Poteet, Texas was called home December 26, 2015. Bill graduated from Southwest Texas University and was a very active member of the San Marcos community which has been his home for many years. Bill was the longtime owner of his business, Bill Taylor and Associates and served as a past San Marcos City Councilman. He was proudly awarded El Jefe of the Chilympiad for several years. In addition, Bill’s professional career included work as a police officer and he served in the United Stated Army. Always one to seek a new adventure Bill was a pilot of his personal aircraft and in most recent years with his love of the water and boating added Captain to his list of achievements. Captain Bill, as he was affectionately called by many, was most at home at the gulf on his boat, hosting family and friends to a weekend fishing trip.

The center of Bill’s life were his family and friends. Bill is survived by his children Dana Taylor, Aaron Taylor and wife Kay, Brian Taylor and wife Julie, and Kathryn Taylor. Bill’s beloved grandchildren include Skyler King and Elizabeth, Hayden and Collin Taylor. In addition Bill leaves his companion, Judy Schneider, brothers Jim Taylor (wife Sarah) and Joe Taylor (wife Cindie). Bill was known for his love of bulldogs and was often seen with one along for the ride. Winston will greatly miss their trips to the coast!

Everyone who knew Bill would recognize his quick smile and his love of life. A very social person, Bill also provided karaoke services and was known to grab the microphone for a song or two. Bill enjoyed going on cruises, cheering on the Cowboys and loved hosting others to a meal usually prepared by the group. The most important thing was that he loved his time with others, whatever the setting may have been. Captain Bill, we love you and you leave behind a big space in our lives that no one else can fill. As you take this final voyage we pray for ‘fair winds and following seas”. Bon Voyage.

Family will receive friends at Pennington Funeral Home 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 2,2016 with A Celebration of Life Service to follow at 12:00 p.m.
