Aubrey E. Harrington went home to our Lord, January 24, 2026. He was 98 years old. He was preceded by his wife, Sybil E. Harrington in death. He had 3 daughters, Linda K. Klante, Sheryl Ann Decker, and (Julie) Julia Sheridan. He also had 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
He was born Dec. 31, 1927. He was raised in an orphanage in North Carolina. In spite of an eighth-grade education, Aubrey got his GED and joined the Army. He served in World War II and retired from the Army and Army Reserves. He then was employed at Norfolk Shipyard as an apprentice and later moved up to General Foreman in Shop 17 and retired. He then worked for Moon Engineering for a couple decades and finally retired.
His favorite past time was bowling at Pinboy’s on Laskin Rd on a Senior League. There he became a legend because of his high average and was rewarded many trophies and patches. He loved spending time with family and friends. He would also entertain friends and family by standing on his head on his birthday, which he did up to 97 years old. He liked helping his wife and liked baking. He also liked watching golf, baseball and westerns. He spent most of his life serving the Lord. He always said the Lord had been good to him. Everyone who knew him said he was a kind and gentle hearted man.
We will all miss him. Truly this is our loss but Heaven’s gain.
In lieu of flowers we ask donations go to the Alzheimer's Association and Hospice.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 am, on Monday, February 2, 2026, at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23462, with a visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Entombment will be in Rosewood Memorial Park.
