

Ben Aledia Espiritu, born on April 2, 1933, in Dasmariñas, Cavite, Philippines, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025, in Virginia Beach, VA, at the age of 92. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose love for his family was paramount throughout his life.
Ben dedicated 20 years of his professional life as a Chef in the U.S. Navy, where he served with honor and retired after a distinguished career. His passion for cooking was only matched by his love for the outdoors, where he found joy in tending to his vegetable garden and meticulously caring for his yard. The simple pleasures of life, such as a trip to Home Depot or Lowes, brought him great satisfaction.
Family was always at the heart of Ben's life. He cherished movie dates with his loved ones, especially those one on one moments with his beloved wife, Remie, with whom he shared 65 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a family that was his pride and joy.
Ben is preceded in death by his parents, Ruperto Espiritu and Valeriana Aledia, and two siblings, a sister and a brother. His father, Ruperto, passed when Ben was just 10 years old while serving in the Philippine Military.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Remedios, and their three daughters: Emie (Nathan), Benner (Al), and Reben (Ric). He was a proud grandfather to Joshua (Julia) and Michael, the children of Emie and Nathan, and Ryanne and Tripp, the children of Reben and Ric. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Maddie and Vincent, the children of Joshua and Julia.
In his final years, Ben expressed a deep desire to leave his family settled and to have accomplished a job well done. He succeeded in this endeavor, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and cherished memories.
Ben Aledia Espiritu will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family, his love for the simple joys of life, and his exemplary service to his country. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
