A Norfolk native, Mr. Bateman resided in Virginia Beach since 1967 and was a member of First Baptist Church of Norfolk. His passions were his grandchildren and anything to do with being on or near the water.
Survivors include his loving wife of forty-two years, Charleene Garner Bateman; his father, Bervel T. Bateman, Jr.; two sons, Brad Bateman and wife, Jennifer; Bill Bateman and wife, Nicole; five grandchildren, Brandon, Julie, Garner, Madeline, and Anderson Bateman.
A celebration of Mr. Bateman’s life will be held on Monday, March 22, 2010, 10:00 a.m. at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home by The Rev. Richard Baker.
