Mr. Whitney was born in Wayne, NE and resided in Virginia Beach since 1957. He retired from the U.S. Navy after twenty-six years of service as a Senior Chief Electrician. He was a charter member of Hope Lutheran Church and loved NASCAR.
Survivors include his loving wife of sixty years, Dorothy Ann Whitney; six children, Lori Whitney, Linda Whitney, Deanna Gargiulo and husband Kenny, Brian Whitney, Lisa Wooten and husband Allen, Kristi Sylvester and husband Carmen; his sister, Sandra Gabica; eight grandchildren, Krystal Johnson, Michelle Brooks, Julie Harrington, Lorin Pritchard, Shelia Fejka, Nicholas Wooten, Billy Fejka and Carmen Sylvester and five great grandchildren, Tahlia Brooks, Kayla Brooks, Jalen Brooks, Jeffery Johnson and Jacob Johnson.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 8, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, March 9, 2:00 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church. Entombment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.
