

Cynthia Lucille Norick, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025, in Norfolk, Virginia, at the age of 63. Born on December 14, 1962, in Chicago, Illinois, she was the cherished daughter of Otis Betts and Juanita Wilkes (Betts).
Cynthia dedicated over two decades of her professional life as a Personal Assistant at Dominion Christian Center, where her unwavering commitment and grace touched many lives. A devout servant of the Word of God, she found great joy and solace in her faith, which she lovingly shared with those around her.
Her passions extended beyond her spiritual pursuits; she had a formidable talent in the kitchen and enjoyed spending time cooking for her family. Watching cooking shows on the Food Network and indulging in the creative transformations on HGTV and heartwarming stories on the Hallmark Channels were some of her favorite pastimes. Cynthia cherished her family deeply and delighted in hosting Sunday dinners, creating cherished memories with loved ones gathered around her table.
A devoted wife and mother, Cynthia is remembered for her tireless dedication to her family and community. She served as PTA President and was honored as Volunteer of the Year at Point O View Elementary, demonstrating her commitment to fostering a nurturing environment for children. In her youth, she proudly won several track races at Corliss High School in Chicago, showcasing her competitive spirit and determination.
Cynthia is preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Juanita Betts, and her beloved daughter, Deanna Lizabeth Norick. She leaves behind a legacy of love embodied by her devoted husband of 41 years, Darryl Lon Norick, Sr.; her two sons, Darryl L. Norick, Jr., and Derrick L. Norick; and her siblings, Betty Wilkes (Charlie), Michael Wilkes (Loretta), Sherman Anthony Wilkes (Cassandra), Maurice Wilkes, Annie Wilkes Walton (David), Gloria Wilkes, Kimberly Wilkes, LaTawnya Brown (William). She will be dearly missed by her Aunt-in-love, Mary Becker, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were blessed to know her.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 6:00-8:00 PM. A funeral service to honor and celebrate Cynthia's life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at the Dominion Christian Center. Following the service, Cynthia will be laid to rest at Rosewood Memorial Park.
Cynthia Lucille Norick will be forever remembered for her kindness, her devotion to her family and faith, and the warmth she brought into every room she entered. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
