On family visits to Virginia Beach as a young boy in the late 1950s, I saw Danny in his local element, and traveled with him on one of his newspaper delivery routes... He was funny, adventuresome, and held strong opinions even then – all traits he retrained and wore well through his adult life... His story-telling enthusiasm was legendary, and he never lost his boyish smile or his sense of humor... He was always curious, as I remember him, and his world travels bore that out, also proud of his Irish heritage... At his core, as I’m sure his children will say, he was a kind and caring man, displayed in many of the family photos shown here.  Have a good journey, Danny... R.I.P.     - Jack Doyle, cousin

Danny was known throughout the neighborhood for his happy disposition and open heart.

I will miss his smile every day.

Danny has been a loving cousin to our family for many years.  He was always the perfect host when we visited.  His knowledge of history was overwhelming as he toured us through the Norfolk, Virginia Beach area.  Danny was so witty and was always the perfect entertainer as he shared his travel experiences, especially those from England and Australia.  Danny was always so jovial and had such an infectious smile you could not forget.  We love him and miss him so much as we remember that enduring smile.  

Condolences to Danny's family.  Danny was one of the good guys, always thinking of others.  I am enclosing a photo ( hope it looks ok ) that means a lot to me and includes others that were and are significant. hope you understand. It was a fun night for us because of who we were with.

Danny was a frequent visitor to our family's house on 13th Bay for many years.  I feel very lucky to have known him and will always remember him.

Danny Murphy was an ODU TKE fraternity member that maintained contact with TKE members. He will be sadly missed.

Danny was one of my closest friends.  We met at ODU where we became fraternity brothers in TKE.  We shared many great times as TKE brothers over the years.

After graduation, Danny, myself and Paulette who became my wife, went on to teach in high schools...Danny and Paulette in Norfolk...myself in Portsmouth.

Danny served as one of my groomsmen when Paulete and I married on a snowy day in Decemeber over 50 years ago.

I well remeber when Danny decided to leave and take a teaching position in Australia.  That was short-lived and he went on to work in a factory.  From there he embarked to England and from there he wandered throughout Europe for some time.  Indeed, Danny was a world traveler!

Several years ago, local TKE brothers started a weekly tradition to meet for breakfast...it was a great way to renew old friendships.

We all enjoyed Danny's humor,  knowledge and caring...there's no one like him.

Paulette and I extend our deepest sympathy to the Murphy family and if there is any service we can extend, only ask...

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore.
