Delores was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years Joe, and her Mother and Father.
She is survived by five children to include three daughters: Cindy O’Donnell; Nancy Chrabot and her husband Gerard; Sue Katuzienski and Bela Bartha; and two sons: Ken Katuzienski and wife Sara; Joe Katuzienski and wife Theresa; thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Delores lived in the greater Chicago area from her birth through 2006, and in Yorktown and Virginia Beach until her death. She enjoyed time with her family and friends, and flying and travelling with her husband Joe. She also loved to sew, and was very proud of all of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, who filled her with joy and happiness. The last seventeen years of life kept her confined to a wheelchair due to multiple sclerosis, so she lived at Lake Taylor Transitional Care Hospital and Our Lady of Perpetual Help nursing homes, in Virginia Beach. Yet, despite her handicap, she had a kind, compassionate, selfless spirit, was an inspiration to all who knew her, and was loved by everyone she met. Delores was a bright light in our world, always had a twinkle in her eyes and a keen sense of humor, despite her pain and suffering from multiple sclerosis. She was larger than life, and had a great love for others that radiated through her continuous smile. She never wanted to slow down, enjoyed time with family, and would never pass-up an opportunity to attend any-and-all kinds of family gatherings and celebrations. Delores really enjoyed singing happy birthday in her ethnic Polish language at birthday parties for her family, going out to dinner and cultural events in town, and always looked forward to attending Sunday mass and prayed for others every day. She is True Love.
In honor of Delores, a funeral mass will be held at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 5345 Virginia Beach Blvd Virginia Beach, VA 23462 on Friday March 22, 2024 at 10 AM. Internment will follow at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 601 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462; luncheon to follow at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
