Dorcas Ann Sidwell

Dorcas was born in Currituck County, North Carolina on December 11, 1928 and has been a resident of Virginia Beach for most of her life. She was a stay at home mom with four children and took care of numerous other children in her home over the years. She enjoyed taking care of children, cooking, gardening and reading her Bible. She was a faithful servant to our Lord and was a member of London Bridge Baptist Church.

She was predeceased by her husband, Melvin Lyle Sidwell and her son, Christopher Steven Sidwell.

She leaves to cherish her memory: two sons, Ronnie Sidwell and wife, Edna and Melvin Sidwell; a daughter, Ann Sidwell and husband John Carter and a daughter-in-law, Cindy Sidwell; six grandchildren, Kim Linegar, Brandon Sidwell, Michael Sidwell, Anna Sidwell, Christy Tillman and Christopher Sidwell, Jr.; eleven great grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Caputo of North Carolina and Alice Miller of Montana; a niece, Micki Patterson and husband, Rex of Kentucky; a nephew, Charles Wright, Jr. of Georgia; two very special friends, Tina Jones and Nancy Moison and many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

A service of remembrance will be on Friday, June 28, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel, 601 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, with Reverend Asa Lowe, officiating. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home on Thursday, June 27, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
