Douglas Andrew Palczewski, 75, was called home on July 17th, 2025. He is survived by a wide circle of loving family members and friends, and predeceased by his grandson Michael. Known as “Coach”, “Gramps” or “Mr. P” to many, Douglas dedicated his life to his family, the field of education, leadership, community service and rooting for the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Douglas moved from New York to Virginia Beach in 2009 and spent much of his retirement volunteering. He assisted in various capacities at Great Neck Wrestling Club, Luxford Elementary, Bayside Middle, Bayside High and Church of the Holy Family.
Special thanks to the staff at The Gardens of Virginia Beach and Enhabit for the exceptional care they provided during Douglas’ final days.
Douglas leaves behind a legacy of mentorship and compassion. He is already deeply missed.
A memorial visitation will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Rosewood-Kellum
Funeral Home.
