Elaine Pennella Kane of Virginia Beach, Virginia passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on August 19, 2022. She was 93 years old. She is preceded in death by her husband Paul E Kane and her granddaughter, Stella Rae Kane.
Elaine was a vibrant, quick-witted, intelligent, kind and compassionate woman who gave her love unconditionally and adored her family, her home, and her many friends. It was always important to her to be able to offer a safe place for those who needed somewhere to go to find comfort. She was known as the neighborhood “mom” and loved being surrounded by her kids and their friends during the early years in Pembroke Meadows. Many great memories were made in those years and she reminisced often. She will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Left to honor and cherish her memory are her family: Sandi (Lance) and Jeslyn Stiles; Mike (Emme) and Paul Kane and Andrew, Gale and Peter van der Merwe; Christina (Charlie) and Chad (Erin) Edmondson and her 3 great grandchildren whom she adored: Olivia, Allison and Charlie Edmondson. In addition, she was blessed with a loving bonus “granddaughter” Hayley (Brandon) Sims and their 2 precious girls Grace and Charlotte.
The family wants to acknowledge mom's wonderful team of caregivers who demonstrated dedication and compassion throughout their time with her. She loved each of you! Thank you Stephanie, Mary, Maddie, Myrna, Sam, Melissa and Brenda. The family will miss you all very much.
And finally, words cannot begin to express the gratitude the family has for the team at Promedica Hospice. Taylor S., RN, Taylor, LPN and all those who assisted in mom's care during her final journey, we thank you. You are all angels here on earth and we will never forget your tender, loving care for all of us.
Mom entered into heaven with Father Dominic from Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church by her side providing peace and courage. For that we will be eternally grateful.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the family home for all who knew and loved mom at a future date.
