Elizabeth Wiggins was born on February 22, 1926 in Greenville, NC. Elizabeth went on to start her education journey by graduating high school at Palmer Memorial Institute.
Mrs. Wiggins went to North Carolina Central University in1944 through 1948, receiving her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature; she later went on to receive her master’s degree in English Literature at Columbia University in New York, NY. She was married on October 7, 1951. She began teaching school at P.W. Moore School and moved on to teach French, Spanish and English at Crestwood High and Great Bridge Junior High School. She retired from Great Bridge Jr. High in 1987 where she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and husband.
Mrs. Wiggins attended Messiah Presbyterian Church for over 50 years and served in several capacities such as on the usher and deaconess boards.
She leaves behind her daughter Patricia Wiggins; her grandchildren, Chantelle White, Charmaine White and Jimmy White; her great granddaughter Amina Allen and many other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 21 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home where a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 22 at 2:00 p.m. Entombment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.
