Richmond, VA ~ Elwood Emmett Braatz, 83, formerly of Manteo, NC and Chesapeake, VA, passed away in his home on Monday, November 21, 2011 surrounded by his family. He served in the U.S. Army Post WWII and was a lifetime member of the U.S. Power Squadron. He was an avid lover of all things nautical and tinkering.
Mr. Braatz is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patricia; son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Susan; grandson, Michael; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Wayne Whitlock; and brother and sister-in-law, James and Karen Braatz.
A memorial Service will be held November 25, at 7:00 p.m. in Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23462. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 6-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Horizons Hospice of Richmond,
