Mr. Petiet was born February 2, 1926 to the late Hans and Elizabeth Petiet in the Netherlands. Mr. Petiet served in the Dutch Army for two years before coming to the U.S. in 1957. He worked in International Banking until his retirement. Mr. Petiet was a man who loved his family. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family; whether it was swimming with his grandson, taking a leisurely drive around town nothing made him happier than spending time with those he loved. Hans was a man of detail and integrity. On any giving day you could find him working in his yard keeping his flowers and grass beautiful or swimming in the lake. Hans was a man of faithfulness; faithful to the church and to his wife of 58 years. He loved playing the organ and played it passionately. Mr. Petiet made a mark on the World and those who loved him that will never be erased. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, “Opa”, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish his memory is: his loving wife of 58 years, Maria Petiet; daughter, Sharon Petiet; grandson, Christopher Petiet; soon to be son-in-law, Jonathan Person; three sisters: Maria Vanderwerf of the Netherlands Lies Gamadia of the Netherlands, Margaretha Salvesen of Norway; sister-in-law, Elly Petiet; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He is preceded in death by a brother, Huib Petiet.
