Harry Charles Swank

GySgt Harry "Hank" Charles Swank, 81, went to be with our Lord on January 21, 2016. He was most proud of his family and of being a Gunnery Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. GySgt Swank retired after 22 years where his tours included Korea and Okinawa.

As a young Marine, he met and married Theresa Joan Szewczyk. After 60-years of marriage, she is left to cherish his memory. GySgt leaves behind two brothers, Fred and James Swank. His 4 children and their spouses are Deborah (Debbie) & Dennis Economos, Harry (Bud) Swank II & Falon Saint James, Jeffrey (Jeff) & Keli Ellis Swank, and Kellie Swank & Steve Batton. GySgt Swank adored his 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

GySgt Swank was born in Somerset, PA. After retirement, he lived 20 years in Coinjock, N.C. where he was an active volunteer in the community and attended Coinjock Baptist Church. He settled in Virginia Beach and attended St. John’s Baptist Church.

The funeral will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, January 26th at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home in Virginia Beach with Pastor Chuck Haley officiating from St. John’s Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at a visitation on Monday, January 25th, 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home.
