Herman M. McCoy, 85, passed away on February 5, 2012. He was born in Norfolk, VA to James Peter and Ende Mae McCoy. He was a retired Merchant Marine, having served his country faithfully for 40 years. He served during WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War. In 1975, his ship was the last to leave Vietnam, having rescued 25,000 refugees.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 64 years, Elva McCoy; his sons, Joseph M. McCoy and wife Yvonne of VA Beach, Herman M. McCoy, Jr. of Norfolk, and Shane M. McCoy and wife Angie of VA Beach; his sisters, Weasey Bowden, Dorothy Cooksey, and Barbara Guill; a brother, Charles McCoy and wife Lorraine; 8 loving grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also predeceased by a son, Timothy McCoy; 2 sisters; and 7 brothers.
