

He was comforted in his peaceful passing by his daughter, Jeanne, and his granddaughter, Alexandra. He was born November 2, 1930 in Kankakee, Illinois, the youngest of his three brothers. He grew up in Peotone, and joined the Navy when he was 23 after graduating from Marquette University. He served on the USS Salisbury Sound, USS Northampton, and the USS Diamond Head, amassing over 20 years of service before retiring as Lieutenant Commander in 1973. In 1961, he met and married Irene and became a loving father to her two daughters, Michelle and Suzanne, and to their third daughter, Jeanne, who was born in 1964. During his retirement, he was a big fan of watching the football Commanders, and the baseball Cubs. He enjoyed collecting and dealing Irish collectibles and memorabilia as he had great pride in his Irish heritage. He was an avid listener of Dixieland jazz, and he loved to tell jokes. He was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and the Ancient Order of the Hibernians.
He was predeceased by his parents, Hugh John Gorman and Grace McGowan, his brothers, Patrick, Dennis, and Jack, his wife, Irene, of 42 years, and daughter, Suzanne. He is survived by his daughters, Jeanne Kledzik and Michelle (Billy) Potter, his son, Robin Turner, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church on February 11, 2025. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.
A celebration of life will be held after the funeral at 2:00 p.m. at Murphy’s Irish Pub on 2914 Pacific Ave at the Oceanfront.
