Jack Walter Hamby Jr.

Jack W. Hamby, Jr., age 61, passed away of a sudden illness on March 30, 2024 with loved ones by his side. He was from N. Little Rock, Arkansas. He retired after 22 years of faithful service from the U.S. Navy as a Nuclear Technician on submarines. He was currently employed at Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Jack is predeceased by his parents, Jack, Sr. and Alice Hamby and his sister, Rebecca. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Christina; three children, Alex (Catarina Schenck) of Raleigh, NC, Margaret of Virginia Beach, VA, and James (Yoselyn) of Dallas, TX; a sister, Kathy (Charles) Hogan of Lonoke, AR; and many nieces and nephews. He was a loving husband and father who will be sorely missed. Jack loved Halloween; his displays drew visitors yearly from far and near. A Celebration of Jack's life will be held at noon on Friday, April 19, 2024 at Bayside Presbyterian Church, 1400 Ewell Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23455. Burial will follow at the A. G. Horton Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Rd Virginia Beach, VA 23462. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Guiding Eyes for the Blind or SanctuaryRescue.Inc in Midlothian, VA.
