Jim was born in Washington D.C. on May 24, 1954 to Alta and Newton Donaldson. Jim earned a degree in radio and television production technology in 1989. In the early 1970’s Jim was a radio DJ for multiple stations around the state of Virginia. For 25 years, Jim worked as a Radio Engineer for ABC News where he was assigned to operate the news from various locations such as the White House and the Department of State. He took on additional responsibilities in his time at ABC and he was also a member of NABET-CWA local 31. After retiring in 2005, Jim became a Radio Communications Systems Analyst for the City of Norfolk. Jim was also a member of AFTRA-SAG.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine; son, David; stepson, Joshu; stepdaughter, Natalie; sister, Valorie; and brother, Edward. He is preceded in death by his sister Cheryl.
Services will be held at 6:00pm on August 22, 2010 at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home in Virginia Beach. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Please share your love and condolences with the family at www.kellumfuneralhome.com
