Janice Lee Chilcott, age 73, of Virginia Beach, Virginia said her last "goodnight" and passed away peacefully on Monday December 30, 2019 only to wake in the loving arms of her husband who had been waiting for her. Janice was born August 21, 1946 in San Diego, California to her late parents Niels Henry and Pauline Roberta Andersen. Janice is also preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, Terry D. Chilcott.
Jan loved children and found joy in caring for them until her retirement as a daycare provider in 2009. Jan loved to travel and visited several different parts of the country during her lifetime; her favorite trip was revisiting the house and area she grew up in Lemon Grove California. Jan was also an avid and most gifted crafter. She had such a natural ability to create the most beautiful cross-stitch and paper quilling designs from one-of-a-kind patterns that she created.
Survivors include her two daughters, Dyan (Bert) McDermott of Chesapeake, VA, Shawn Sarimento of Virginia Beach, VA, four granddaughters, Lia D'Aprile of Orlando, FL; Kayla Chilcott of Virginia Beach, VA; Kristen Chilcott of Virginia Beach, VA and Stephanie McDermott of Chesapeake, VA and two great-grandsons, Terran and Jak. As well as a loving extended family who fondly called her Mama Chilcott or Nana Jan and a number of relatives and dear friends.
The memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at the Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home located at 601 N. Witchduck Rd, Virginia Beach, VA on February 10, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA on February 11, 2020 at 11:00 a.m.
