Jean was born in Coal Hill, Arkansas on January 2nd, 1939, to the late Ebb and Thelma Ogden. Following high school graduation, she moved to San Diego, California, where she met the love of her life, U.S. Navy Aviator Thomas J. Hall, on a blind date. They were later married on December 28, 1957.
Jean attended Rock Church Bible Institute from 1978 to 1980 and completed the 2-year program as salutatorian. She was an active member of Thalia Lynn Baptist Church, and she served as the church’s librarian for many years as well as being very active in her Sunday School Class. Over her lifetime, she was a member of and financially supported numerous Christian organizations and often volunteered as a phone counselor at the Christian Broadcasting Network and supported the Rock Church staff.
Jean was a devoted mother and U.S. Navy wife. She enjoyed bird watching, square dancing, playing mahjong, and her many church activities.
Jean is survived by her husband Thomas J. Hall, 2 children: Brian J. Hall (spouse Carol) and Denise Butler (spouse David), and 6 grandchildren: Holly Eastman (spouse Chris), Whitney Robinson (spouse Steve), Andrew Butler, Catherine Hall, Amy Butler, and Melanie Hall; and 2 great grandchildren: Eliana Eastman and Hadley Robinson.
Jean is predeceased by her sisters Hazel, Jewell, Gladys, and Louise and by her brothers Ewell, Gervis, Herbert, and J.B.
Visitation will be held at 1-2 pm on Sunday, February 12th at Thalia Lynn Baptist Church, 4392 Virginia Beach Boulevard, Virginia Beach Virginia.
The Funeral Service will immediately follow from 2-3 pm.
A graveside service will be held at 12 pm on Monday, February 13th at Rosewood Memorial Park, 631 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, VA.
Memorials may be made to any worthy Christian Organization.
