John Louis Caddy

John Caddy "Papa" age 84 was born July 15, 1936 in Norfolk, Virginia. He passed away peacefully on a beautiful Sunday morning in his family home on March 21, 2021. He was preceded in death by mother Mary Aline Caddy and father Marvin Augustus White, step-father Orval Anthony Caddy; Daughter Mary Aline Hammond and Son William Anthony Caddy; brothers, Thomas and Orval as well as many beloved dogs.

John is survived by wife Dionycia Lee Benkert-Caddy of 59 years, daughter Dionycia Catherine Caddy-Smith, Grandchildren Donald Howard, Amber Hammond, Trey Smith and Nina Smith. He also has 3 great grandchildren Vada Smith, Wyatt Smith, and Amelia Rawlins.

John made the first ever touchdown for Kempsville/Princess Anne High School in 1955. He was in the United States Marine Corp in 1959 and honorably discharged in June 1962. He served as a police officer in Princess Anne County, Virginia. He was also a Shriner and a Freemason of Bayside Masonic Lodge #218 in Virginia Beach, Legion of Honor Khedive Temple, and Virginia Beach Shiner's Club. He was in the car business for over 50 years, being named top salesman numerous times. In his spare time, John loved to golf and spend time tending to his family. He will be missed dearly and will live on forever in memory in our hearts and souls. If anyone would like to give donations, please do so by donating to the Shriners Hospital.
