Judith "Judy" Gaddy Leary

Judith "Judy" Gaddy Leary, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, at the age of 80. Born on December 9, 1944, in Norfolk, Virginia, Judy lived a life marked by simplicity, hard work, and an unwavering love for her family and animals.

Judy spent her career working as an Insurance Agent for several distinguished agencies, earning the respect and friendship of colleagues and clients alike through her dedication and integrity. Outside of her professional life, she found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a passion for sewing, transforming fabric into beautiful creations with every stitch. Judy also took pride in maintaining her yard, often spending serene hours mowing the lawn and tending to her garden.

Animals held a special place in Judy's heart, and she was particularly fond of parrots. Her gentle spirit and nurturing nature extended beyond her own family to the creatures she adored and cared for over the years.

Judy was preceded in death by her cherished husband of 42 years, Cecil Bray Leary, Jr.; her loving parents, Jissie E. Gaddy and Benjamin H. Gaddy; and her dear sister, Barbara Jean Gaddy. She is survived by her devoted children, Cynthia Hunter, Elizabeth Leary, and Nathan Leary; her beloved grandson, Robert Ferguson; and her brother, Benjamin H. Gaddy, Jr., along with numerous friends who were touched by her kindness and generosity.

Judy will be remembered as a humble and caring woman, whose warmth and compassion left an indelible mark on all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 23, from 1:00 - 2:00 pm, at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park
