

Julio Santiago Hernandez, 88, passed away peacefully in Virginia Beach on Saturday, November 21, 2015. Julio was born in Sancti Spiritus, Cuba to the late Eduardo and Maria Hernandez. He is survived by his loving wife, Florita Hernandez. They were married for 59 years. He is survived as well by his son, Santiago Hernandez and his wife, Judith from Florida; daughters, Victoria Anello and her husband, Paul from New Jersey and Pilar Seyrlehner and her husband, Heinz from Virginia Beach; brother, Ricardo Hernandez; sisters, Emma Doherty, Teresita Gomez, Andrea Perez and Maria del Carmen Salinas; seven grandchildren, Zoe, Julia, Katherine, Emily, Frank, Andrea and Anna. Julio was one of twelve siblings. His proudest accomplishment was to bring his family from Cuba to the U.S. He finished his education in the U.S and ultimately became the Assistant VP of the New York City division of Banco de Ponce. He was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic church and of the Masonic Lodge in Cuba. He loved traveling, photography, baseball and boxing. He had a wonderful sense of humor and brought laughter into the lives of those around him.
A visitation will be held from 6-8pm, Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Kellum Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at 10am, Wednesday at Kellum Funeral Home. The family would like to thank the staff of Bay Lake for their special care for Julio. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
