Larry Wilson Smith, 84, passed away on May 27, 2026 in Virginia Beach. He was born in Hat Creek, Virginia and was preceded in death by his parents Morton and Margarette Tanner Smith, his first wife Mary E. Smith, a son Larry Smith and was the last of 10 children.
Mr. Smith retired as a Master Sergeant with the United States Army after 25 years of service. He served as a Drill Sergeant during that time and also in Vietnam where he was in the artillery and airborne units. He received the bronze star and air accommodation medals. He served his country with pride.
He was a longtime member of Christ Presbyterian Church in Virginia Beach. Memberships also included D.A.V. Chapter 20.
Survivors include his loving wife of 7 years and longtime partner of 20 years Farida Smith; Terry Smith and wife Shannon Blatt and Garry Smith and wife Michelle; grandchildren Kristopher Freeman, Logan Blatt, Carissa Blatt, Ashlynn Smith, Tabitha Marshall, Tiffany Marshall, and Anna Marie Johnson.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2:00pm at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach. A reception will follow in the funeral home.
