Born April 9, 1951, in Portsmouth, VA, she was the eldest daughter of the late Thomas G. Register and Ethel H. Register. She graduated from Princess Anne High School in 1969.
Laura was a devoted wife and mother and always found the good in everyone. She drove a school bus for the City of VA Beach for over 20 years and fell easily into retirement a few years ago. When she wasn't out shopping or having lunch with her daughter, or niece, you could always find her in a casino sitting at a slot machine. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband. Their frequent trips include Charleston, SC, Mobile, AL, Ocala, FL, Las Vegas, NV, Honolulu, HI, Montreal, Canada, New England, Seattle, WA and most recently their 50th anniversary was spent in Nashville and Memphis, TN and Arkansas. She sacrificed so much for her family and was considered the "HUB" of our family.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ethel "Nanny" Register; father, Thomas G. Register; brothers, John Register of Sandston, VA, Ray White of Hawaii, and Jerry "Poppy" Register of North Carolina.
She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, John S. Cameron of VA Beach, VA; one daughter, Jessie Cameron, of VA Beach, VA; two sisters, Judy Potter and husband, Benny of Hayes, VA, Barbara Bland of Ocala, FL; two grandchildren, Aidan Jackson and partner, Maddy Peaks of VA Beach, VA, Camryn Jackson of Hayes, VA; one niece, Sabryna Sterling of Elizabeth City, NC; and one great grandchild, Charlotte Louise of VA Beach, VA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 18, 2025 from 6 to 7:30pm at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation to assist in CKD Research.
