Laurel White Wilson

Virginia Beach - Laurel Hortense White Wilson, 93 passed away July 11, 2018. She was born Jan. 13, 1925 in Virginia Beach to the late Addie Cason White and Marshall S. White. She attended Oceana High School and later took night classes at Kee Business College. She was a stock analyst at the Naval Supply Center and, also, at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth, VA, retiring after 20 years of service. She attended the Methodist Church in her early years and later joined the Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Baylake Pines. She was a member of the Retired Officers Wives Society and several conservation charities. She, with her husband, was a member of the Broad Bay Sailing Club in former years. She enjoyed nature, especially bird watching, and sailing, with her husband, on their yacht as his first mate. She, also, enjoyed traveling, with her husband to many foreign countries.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Capt. Robert H. Wilson, USN (Ret.); and sisters, Alethia Harmon, Madora Berry, and Marguerite Howard.
She is survived by her son, Gary L. Wilson; three step-children, Beverly Rooker, Robert Alan Wilson, and Gary R. Wilson; sister, Sibyl Merkle; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Mon., July 16, 2018 at Rosewood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Va Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad. You may offer condolences to the family at www.kellumfuneralhome.com.
