
Linda Yvette Taylor Byrd, affectionately known as “Cookie”, 59 of VA Beach, VA departed this life on October 19, 2012. She was born on December 10, 1952 in St. Mary’s County, MD to the late Joseph Sr. and Bernice Taylor. She was educated in the St. Mary’s County Public School system. On January 27, 1970, Cookie was united in marriage to the late Wallace Byrd Sr., and from this union, two daughters and a son were born.
She held many jobs to include the U.S. Postal Service, City of Va. Beach Parking Authority, and was the proud owner of Absolute Cleaning Service for 10 years. Cookie enjoyed watching game shows and soap operas. She especially enjoyed watching “The Young and The Restless” with her Mother. Cookie had a love for music, Bingo, bowling and cooking. Everyone constantly requested her famous potato salad. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends and ensured that everyone always had enough to eat.
Cookie leaves to cherish her precious memory, her daughters Yolanda Hands (Reggie) of Woodbridge, VA, Leanda Regan (Rick) of VA Beach VA, and her son Wallace Byrd Jr. also of VA Beach, VA, as well as her grandchildren Kandy, Nicole, Wallace III and Reggie II. Cookie also leaves five siblings who mourn her loss; Marcelene Taylor of Washington, D.C., Joseph Taylor, Jr. of Loveville, MD, Wanda Cutchember (Jerry) and Joan Courtney of Leonardtown, MD and Julian Taylor of Waldorf MD. In addition, she leaves to cherish her memory, her dearest friend Ms. Gertie Hatcher and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
