Len was born in New Albany, IN. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1958 and retired as a Master Chief Petty Officer after twenty-six years of service. He also retired from civil service after ten years of service. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from University of Maryland and Master’s Degree in business management from Troy State University. He was a member of Lynnhaven Masonic Lodge #220 and Rincon de España. In his retirement years Len enjoyed home gardening and reading science fiction and action adventure novels.
Survivors include his loving wife Remedios H. Nicholson, three children Jacqueline Alluisi and husband Paul of Raleigh, NC; David Nicholson and wife Susan, and Soraya Forest Midgett and husband Jonathan all of Virginia Beach, VA; eight grandchildren Rebecca, Brian, Ryan, Rachel, Victoria, Autumn, Alana and Aidan, a brother James Nicholson and wife Margaret and a sister Ann Pierce and husband James.
A celebration of Len’s life will be held on Thursday, April 11, 3 p.m. at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home, followed by a catered reception at the funeral home.
