

Lorrene Alexis Durgin Muhammad, the epitome of kindness and generosity, departed from this world and was welcomed into the arms of our Lord on January 23, 2026, at the age of 49. Her radiant spirit lives on through her husband, Sadiyq Muhammad, her three beloved daughters, Alyssa Michelle Durgin, Laila Marie Muhammad, and Kinsley Naveen Muhammad, her granddaughter, Vera Anne Thompson, and her two brothers, Chris Michael Garret and Jay Frisco Durgin, who were her entire world. She is survived by her mother, Deborah Durgin, and preceded in death by her father, Bert Durgin, and her beautiful baby daughter, Safia Shakura Muhammad.
Lorrene was born and raised in Virginia Beach and attended Kempsville High School. She was not only her family’s biggest fan but also a supporter and an unwavering pillar of strength as a host of retail and a manager. She celebrated the dedication and compassion of others, proudly recognizing their achievements along the way.
When Lorrene wasn’t cheering on her daughters and granddaughter, she was embracing life’s myriad opportunities, always seeking new experiences. Her love for hosting group outings and entertaining in her cherished home was infectious. With a vibrant personality, she left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to know her, capturing every moment as the picture-loving, selfie queen.
Selfless to a fault, Lorrene was a rock for those in need and the epitome of the best mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, niece, and friend one could ever wish for. Her absence creates an irreplaceable void.
Her infectious smile and boundless heart illuminated every room and enriched every life she touched. Lorrene embodied the spirit of living life to the fullest, and her legacy will resonate through the countless lives she inspired.
Visitation services will be held at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, located at 601 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, VA, 23462, on February 5, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and on February 6, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
A Celebration of Life will follow at the same venue on February 6, 2026, starting at 2:00 pm.
Lorrene's final resting place will be at Rosewood Memorial Park, located at 631 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach.
