In sorting through items when my mother (Nancy (Rice) Smith) passed away, I found what appears to be a hand-painted cabbage patch doll named “Liberty” made by Maria Waldbaum in 1986. The doll has an accompanying letter as well. I’d love to share the doll and letter with her family. 

I offer the sincerest condolences for your loss and I hope sharing this might bring a fond memory or connection to her creativity. 

My mother came to this country and taught herself to read and write in English.   She took care of 4 kids and worked full time many years while my dad was out to sea serving in the NAVY.  She always ALWAYS stood up and protected all of her children. She never stopped loving us... even the ones who don’t deserve her love. She never wanted to be old so now she is dancing in heaven with some of her besties and all of her pets❤️ RIP Mommy🙏🏻❤️

I will truly miss her, my Madrina. She was a one of a kind person with a loving soul. I have many happy memories with her. My heart is saddened but my soul knows she is no longer suffering.
