Marshall Monroe Carter, 77, of Virginia Beach passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 11, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Julietta Gene Palmer Carter; sons Curtis and Keith (Sherri), eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren; brothers Thomas (Bobbi) and Mark (Janet); sisters Patricia C. Taft (Tommy) and Yvonne Carter; brother-in-law Gil Palmer; and many nieces and nephews. Marshall is preceded in death by his parents Edgar M. and Addie T. Carter.
Marshall was born in Norfolk, Virginia, grew up in the Kempsville area of Virginia Beach, and graduated from Princess Anne High School in 1964. He met the love of his life and best friend, Judy, in their ninth grade English class, got married immediately after graduation and raised two sons, Curtis and Keith. He received vocational/technology training, became a field engineer and cash register technician for NCR, and retired after 38 years of service. Marshall was very proud of his family including his grandchildren Christopher, Braxton, Tyler, Nicholas, Stephen, Krystal, Taylor, and Kayla, as well as his great-grandchildren Hunter, Hayden, Kylie, and Kassidy.
Marshall was a great provider and a very caring and loving man. He loved helping others whether it be fixing something for them or just simply being there for them. He enjoyed tinkering with anything mechanical and believed that Chapstick could fix anything. He especially loved traveling with his wife and family. He was a former member of Christ Presbyterian Church in Virginia Beach, VA where he served as a Deacon.
Arrangements and services are being provided by Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home at 601 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462. Visitation with the family will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service and burial will be held Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at 2:00 PM with a reception to follow.
