CHESAPEAKE – Mary D. Finch, 95, passed away peacefully April 26, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born January 14,1929 in Boston, Massachusetts, Mary was predeceased by her husband Warren M. “Jack” Finch and her daughter, Mary Elizabeth “Mary Beth” Hensley. Left to cherish her memory are her children and their spouses; John and Mary Finch of Mechanicsville, VA; Paul and Cindy Finch of Bluff City, TN; Linda and Billy Mynes of Virginia Beach, VA; Carole and Paul Galo of Chesapeake, VA; Cathy and Mike Matthews of Chesapeake, VA; Jerry Hensley (husband of Mary Beth) of Chesapeake, VA; 15 Grandchildren: 36 Great-grandchildren. Mary had an adventurist spirit skydiving for the first time at the age of 80. Mary enjoyed traveling, sewing, crafting, reading, and crocheting and made countless baby blankets and prayer shawls. Her biggest passion was time spent with family whether it was on a beach vacation to the Outer Banks, a family cruise, or just one of the many gatherings for a holiday or birthday party. She truly taught us the meaning of family. The family would like to extend a thank you to Bickford of Chesapeake for all their care and compassion and to all who have provided their support. We will miss her greatly but know she is in a better place with God in Heaven. The Family will receive friends Tuesday, April 30th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home, 601 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach. A Funeral Mass, Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, May 1st at 1:00 pm at St. Stephen, Martyr Roman Catholic Church 1544 S. Battlefield Blvd., Chesapeake, VA. A burial service will follow the church service at 3:00pm at Rosewood Memorial Park. Following the burial service there will be a reception at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity in memory of Mary. Please share your love and condolences with the family at www.kellumfuneralhome.com.
