

Marybelle Woodard, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away with family by her side at the age of 100 on February 19, 2025. Born in Hertford, North Carolina on April 6, 1924 to Joseph and Blanch Delaney. She was the loving wife of John A.C. Woodard, who passed away in 2002. Their love for one another was a true testament to lifelong commitment, and together, they raised a daughter, Linda Sohn.
Marybelle’s bond with her daughter was unshakable, transcending both time and distance. She was a constant source of love, wisdom, and support, always ready to offer a comforting word or a listening ear. As a grandmother, she cherished her grandchildren and took immense pride in their lives. Her legacy of love and strength will live on through them.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Sohn, and her husband, Baxter Sohn, as well as her beloved grandchildren: Christine Deihl and her husband Jeffrey Deihl, Wendy Sohn, Jaime Sohn, and Johnny Deihl. Her grandson, Joshua Deihl, preceded her in death, and Marybelle's love for him remained a constant in her heart.
A devoted member of Bayside Christian Church, Marybelle’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. Her warm, welcoming nature made her a cherished neighbor in Baylake Pines, where she was beloved for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit. Marybelle’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who were touched by her love.
A graveside service for Marybelle will be held Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Rosewood Memorial Park, 631 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462.
