Nora Beatrice Young

Nora Beatrice Young, 95, of Virginia Beach, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2022. Beatrice was the daughter of Eva Pearl Drumheller and Willis Isaac Cassell of West Virginia, both deceased. She was a loving (and opinionated!) wife to her husband of 62 years, Alvin Raymond Young Sr. who preceded her in death in 2008, and supportive mother to her three children. She served many years as Raymond’s office manager and secretary at his real estate law firm during the weekdays and his ballroom dance partner on the weekends – in both cases she often took the lead. They built their family home in 1950 in the Lake View Park neighborhood of Virginia Beach where it has hosted their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren many family dinners and cookouts over the years.

Beatrice is survived by her daughter, Sharon Young Cruthers and husband Barry; two sons, Alvin Raymond Young Jr. and wife Nina, and Douglas Willis Young and wife Cathy; five grandchildren, Robin Raye Altice, W. Jason Altice (wife Lisa), Cara Young Pratt (husband John), Kathryn Young Kressel (husband Michael) and T.J. Young (wife Lindsay); nine great-grandchildren, Aidan McCullough, Emerson Altice, Madison Altice, Harrison Pratt, Henry Pratt, Benjamin Kressel, Luke Kressel, Mason Young, and Braden Young; and her brother Grey Cassell and sister Charlotte Galford. She is predeceased by her brothers Jerry R. Cassell and K. Neal Cassell, and sister Gayle M. Mullenax.
