

LT Paul Ronald Karch USN (Retired), 89, left this life to be with Jesus Christ on 21 March 2017 at his home at Edgeworth Park in Williamsburg VA. Paul was born on a farm near Wheatfield, IN to Charles M. Karch and Fairy A. Karch. He graduated from Wheatfield High School in the fall of his senior year to enter an Army Air Corps’ officer training program in early 1945. He is a WWII, Korean War and Vietnam era retired Navy veteran with 30 years of service to our country. He served on the USS Capricornus, USS Intrepid and the USS Independence. He has been married to the love of his life Betty M. Bush Karch for over 70 years. Paul was an active member of the Pembroke Manor United Church of Christ, DAV Chapter 20 in Virginia Beach and the Fleet Reserve Association. He is survived by his younger sister Beatrice Vaughn, one daughter, two sons, two beautiful daughter-in-laws and a one in a million son-in-law, eight awesome grandchildren and six super awesome great grandchildren. The comfort and strength of his bear hugs were legendary. His positive attitude, generosity, laughter and outlook on life will always be inspiring. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 pm, Sunday, April 2, 2017 at SonRise Pembroke Manor Christian Church, 600 Independence Blvd., Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
