Born in Portsmouth, Virginia to Sophia Spence Culpepper and Sherwood Rudulph House, she graduated from Churchland High School before earning her music education degree from Old Dominion University. She devoted her career to teaching music in public schools, sharing her love of learning with countless students over the years. Her dedication to education extended beyond the classroom through her involvement with the Scherzo Music Club and the retired music teachers.
A gifted musician, Polly served faithfully as a church choir director, pianist, and organist, enriching worship services with her talent and devotion. She was an active member of her music sorority and found joy in lifelong friendships formed there.
In addition to her work and music, she cherished creative pursuits such as knitting and crochet, and was a master seamstress crafting beautiful pieces that reflected her patience and care.
She was predeceased in death by her husband, Samuel Marshall Reynolds of 46 years and her brothers S. Rudolph House, Jr. and CDR Thomas V. House.
She is survived by her four children: Susan Reynolds(Ricardo Burr), Rebecca DaSilva (Darren DaSilva), Samuel Marshall Reynolds, Jr. and Timothy Reynolds, and three grandchildren: Jackson, Josie and Sofia, who will always remember her warmth, guidance, and unwavering love.
A service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, August 22 at 11:00am at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home in Virginia Beach. The family will receive visitors at 10:00am before the service. Her legacy lives on in the music she shared, the students she inspired, and the family she treasured.
