Richard Allen Shaw

Richard Allen Shaw, a beloved and cherished resident of Chesapeake, Virginia, passed away on February 9, 2026, at the age of 64. Born on October 28, 1961, in Derby, Connecticut, to F. Allen and Joan Shaw, Richard was a devoted and compassionate individual who touched the lives of many.

Richard graduated from Virginia Tech. He was a Mechanical Engineer for 41 years, demonstrating his hard-working and resilient nature. He was previously employed with Newport News Shipyard and for the last 15 years of his career, he was employed with Applied Physical Sciences. His honest and patient demeanor made him a respected and admired colleague.

Married for 39 years to Georgia Robinson Shaw, Richard was a faithful and thoughtful husband. He is survived by his daughter, Nicole Hairr, her husband, Jordan, and their son, Harper. Richard's kind-hearted spirit will be deeply missed by his parents, F. Allen and Joan Shaw, brother, Mark Shaw and his wife, Vicki, five sisters-in-law, other nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.

An adventurous soul, Richard enjoyed traveling, finding joy in exploring new places. He loved spending time at their lake house and cherished precious moments with his beloved grandson. Richard was also a dedicated member of New Creation United Methodist Church.

A visitation will be held on February 19, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, located at 601 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. Following the visitation, a Celebration of Life will take place at 2:00 pm at the same venue. The committal service will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park, 631 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Richard's memory to New Creation United Methodist Church or St. Basil the Great Antiochian Orthodox Church.

Richard's adventurous, devoted, and kind-hearted legacy will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.
